There’s likely no better feeling than sharing genuine excitement or enthusiasm with another human being. I’ve known Phil ever since we were little groms getting dropped off at the local pre-fab skatepark by our moms. The majority of the time we’ve been friends, we have shared a love for bikes. Throughout the past decade or so, we’ve both carved our own paths from ratty fixed gear conversions, to 80’s and 90’s mountain bikes, and now, to whatever you want to call the Evasion. He recently retired his old aluminum GT Avalanche and built up the Evasion you see above. The build came out stellar. A nice, understated Evasion, that will do it all and last a lifetime. It was truly a pleasure to help him source parts and build this thing up, but the best part is going out for a rip together and seeing how stoked he is on this thing. Here’s a little rundown of what all he’s got going on up there:
- 56cm “Extra Medium” Bluish Gray Evasion
- Crust 24 Palms Headset
- Crust Face-Off Stem
- 50cm 31.8 Crust Nullabar
- TRP RRL SR Brake Levers
- Microshift Bar End Shifter
- Brooks B17 “Narrow” Saddle (He swapped it out for some Ergon Saddle now)
- Crust Simple Seatpost
- 170mm Deore Crankset (He’s got a 38t Wolf Tooth Ring on there now)
- Deore Derailleur
- Shimano 11 speed 11-46t Cassette
- Crust Palm Oil Brake Kit
- 27.5″ Velocity Blunt 35 Dynamo Wheelset
- 27.5×2.6″ Kenda Booster Pro SCT Casing Front and Rear
- Busch + Muller IQ-XS Dynamo Headlight
