Ryan reached out to us a couple of months ago looking to have his Nor’Easter wants and desires fulfilled. We had a quick chat on the phone, got him all set on sizing, and had him swoop up a 58cm Canti Nor’Easter frameset to get the build started. Latané took over and worked with Ryan to hammer out all of the details of the build. Ryan wanted to get a smattering of tried and true, classic components on this build, if we could find them. We happily obliged. Latané built him a wheelset featuring some NOS Shimano XT hubs laced to a couple of 27.5″ Velocity Cliffhangers, and wrapped them in the new big 2.22″ Ultradynamico Cava. I did a little digging on my end and managed to source him some Suntour XC Sport derailleurs, which I think really tie the room together and pair well with the Dia-Compe Bar End Shifters mounted on the downtube. They kept the aesthetic going with some Paul Neo Retros, XC-III Pedals, and a timeless Berthoud Aspin saddle. In keeping with the premium contact point choices, they went with a Towel Rack Bar and some TRP RRL SR Brake levers. The Rack is wrapped up in some Campandgoslow Western Rattler Bar Tape we had stashed here at the shop. Ryan was HYPED to see the final product when he got the complete photos. We couldn’t get the bike out of here and down to him fast enough. I think this is the best build I’ve seen Latané pump out of Crust. His Magnum Opus. We are hoping to get to work on some more builds featuring some vintage components like this in the future. If you’re feelin’ froggy, holler!
